Well, I’ve been so busy with sheep the last week or two, that I haven’t had much time to write or post. But much has been happening.
Last week, we had some bad news about a family member who is fighting cancer. We needed to visit this loved one because it’s been since Christmas since we’ve seen this person. And, they live 2 hours away, necessitating an overnight visit.
But we have two lambs on bottles.
They need to eat every 6 hours.
There’s no way to leave them unattended for two days.
So, we packed them up to take with us.
And to contain some of the mess, we had to diaper the lambs.
I’ve become one of those people. The kind who diaper animals.
I don’t even have a housecat. Our family has staunchly resisted the pull of cuddly kittens and wiggly puppies in the house with the response “God made animals to live outside.”
And now, I bought diapers for lambs.
So for anyone who is curious how this works, I bought size 4 diapers for these lambs. Using a razor blade, I cut a 1 1/2 inch slit in the FRONT of the diaper for the tails. (Of course, these are girl lambs. I have no idea how it would work with boy lambs) With one person holding the lamb still, put the diaper on with the back part of the diaper (with the tapes) underneath the lamb’s belly.Pull the tail through the tail hole and pull the tapes up over the lamb’s back. Tighten the diaper so it fits snugly.
And there you go. Your lamb can go in the house without making a mess or just in the car for a ride.
And yes, I keep asking myself “How did this happen? I can’t believe this! This is ridiculous!”
